Fresh Reads: books I’m currently reading, including various and sundry observations.
Sin Boldly: A Field Guide for Grace: I’m late to the Cathleen Falsani party, but glad I finally made it. Cathleen’s honest wit is enchanting in her second book (and all her writings for that matter). However, it’s her lavish first-person encounters that not so much define grace, but show us that it’s everywhere.
Speak What We Feel: Not What We Ought to Say: Buechner starts his brilliant book with this quote: “Vein-opening writers are putting not just themselves into their books, but themselves at their nakedest and most vulnerable.” In telling the stories of four of literature’s most unconventional writers, Buechner inspires us to embrace our own quirks and idiosyncrasies. Genius!
