The kids are back in school, escorted down hallways and into classrooms by the fragrance of number two pencils, a 24-count box of crayons, and wide-ruled paper.

I have a bag of candy corn – the orange-yellow-and-white triangles of sweetness beckoning me from the cabinet.

The air boasts an arid autumnal freshness the likes of which I’ve never experienced in what would typically be considered middle Tennessee’s dog days of summer.

There is something lovely here in these waning summer days I can’t put my finger on. Oh, but have I mentioned I’m in heaven.
